Wedding Recap Five Years Later: The Ceremony

Today's recap is all about the most important part of our big day - the ceremony!  I know most guests are eager for a short and sweet ceremony (me included), but this is like the backbone of the big day.  Without a ceremony, none of the rest would be possible!  We were married in downtown Kansas City at a beautiful, urban venue called Club 1000.  Our ceremony was on the third floor and conveniently, our guests traveled three floors up to the sixth floor for our reception.  I loved the venue!  It was very much a blank canvas and though I did decorate some, it didn't need much!

Our ceremony was pretty typical.  All of the traditional music and order of events were followed.  We included two bible readings--Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12 and Romans 12: 9-13--and we lit our unity candle to Natasja Lee's version of "From This Moment".  Funny story about that.  As my cousins were reading the bible verses, I realized the two smaller candles we were to use to light our unity candle hadn't been lit.  It's such a small thing now, but in the moment, it was a huge deal to me!  So when you see Craig and I laughing in the photos below, please know {Brad and Beth} that we weren't laughing at you!  Otherwise, our ceremony went very smoothly.  Enjoy the photos!

Side note: I'm listening to our 'Songs for the Wedding' playlist (yes, we still have it!) as I compose this post and it brings me so many fun, emotional, joyful, and sentimental memories!  I highly recommend listening to music from your wedding on or around your anniversaries, friends!

Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12
Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered,
    two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Romans 12: 9-13
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
