Dr. Seuss Baby Shower

Almost one year to date (this post is a bit delayed) after throwing our good friend, Katie, a bridal shower, Lauren and I were back together planning something even more fun - a baby shower for the upcoming arrival of baby boy Colton!  The minute a baby shower was mentioned, I knew of the perfect theme - Dr. Seuss!  Katie is an elementary school teacher and has always loved Dr. Seuss.  We asked each guest to bring a Dr. Seuss book in lieu of a card.  I really couldn't think of anything more perfect for her and her unborn baby boy.

Of course, the details are always my favorite.  And I think the details made this my favorite shower to plan to date!  I created the invites with a little "inspiration" from Etsy.  On the menu: Poodles Eating Noodles (pasta salad), Truffula Sticks & Dip (broccoli and celery), Hop on Popcorn (almond bark-covered popcorn), Green Eggs (pretzels with frosting and a green M&M) and Ham (pieces of deli ham on toothpicks), Fish in a Dish (goldfish), Bar-ba-loots Truffula Fruits (fruit tray), Cat in the Hat Parfaits (strawberry parfaits), Suess Juice (blue punch), and delicious and adorable Dr. Seuss themed cookies from Connie's Cookies

We had each guest sign Dr. Seuss' Happy Birthday to You book.  Awesome idea courtesy of Pinterest.  And no shower is complete without a diaper cake!

Baby Colton was definitely showered with love and it seemed like a good time was had by all!  Thanks for letting us plan your shower, Katie, and congrats on your sweet new addition!

Showered With Love #2

What a fantastic weekend!  Well, other than the 5+ hours I spent on Masters homework today and the scary tornado we watched (on tv) swirl just a mile or two from our house!  But that's beside the point.

Yesterday, five of my closest friends threw me one of the best baby showers a girl could ask for!  In addition, one friend traveled from Des Moines, my in-laws came from Wichita, and my parents were here visiting all weekend!

And I got to show off the baby's room!  My favorite part! :)

But like I said, the shower was perfect.  Baby Boy Sides was spoiled with gifts!  And now his mommy is overwhelmed and isn't sure what to do with everything!  Good thing I have about six weeks of summer vacay before he arrives to figure that out!  It might just take that long!

I think my favorite part of the shower was the handmade onesies made by each of the hosts!  No wait, it was the cake (made by only the best cake baker ever, Kristin Lynch--she made my wedding cake two years ago and I will never again buy a cake elsewhere)!  Both were pretty awesome, as was everything about the shower.

Oh, did I mention each guest brought a book in lieu of a card?  So now Baby Sides' bookshelves are full!

Here are some photos!

Not only is it the best tasting cake, but adorable as well!!

Gifts galore!
Guests had to guess Baby's birthdate!

Wonder who will be closest???

Yay for lots of Hawkeye gear!

Thank you friends for an amazing shower!  Baby Sides is one lucky little man!

Baby Boy Nixon Shower

Last weekend, I hosted a baby shower for one of my college besties.  Her baby boy is due on January 9 and I can't wait to meet him!  I had so much fun planning and preparing for the shower, and of course, I put to use many great ideas from Pinterest!  I'll let the pictures do the talking!

Punch and favors (oreos on a stick)

The punch (Pinterest) was so good!  The framed picture was another Pinterest steal!
