Stitch Fix #16 (and My Two N-Sale Purchases)

In an effort to make going back to work each August a little easier, I schedule myself a Stitch Fix and ask for work-appropriate clothing.  I'll be honest, I peeked online at the contents of my fix before it actually arrived and I was highly underwhelmed.  When my box arrived, I noticed my requested stylist (Raquel) was not the one to style this fix (she was on vacation) and I was even more disappointed.  But then I started trying on the pieces and much to my surprise, I loved it all!

Item #1
41 Hawthorn Keziah Shirt Dress
Medium / / $48

I really wanted to like this dress!  I love wearing dresses to work because quite honestly, they are more comfortable than pants.  But this dress was just a smidge too big on me.  I considered exchanging it for a size small, but I was afraid it would be too small.  It's hard writing on a whiteboard when your dress pulls.  So back it went.

Verdict: Returned

Item #2
Renee C Maybell Lace Detail Skirt
Medium / / $54

Next up, this skirt.  Immediately, I loved the pattern and the uniqueness of it.  This isn't necessarily something I would find at Target, which is always my Stitch Fix goal.  Once I put it on, I was sold.  The waistband has no buttons or zippers; it's just stretchy and pulls on and off so easily.  The A-line fit makes it super flattering.  Adding this to my "First week of school lineup"!

Verdict: Kept!

Item #3
Papermoon Tarah Crochet Back Top
Small / / $44

I liked this top a lot.  This color, the pattern, the lace detail on the back are all things that are very me.  However, it was just nothing special.  And I have plenty of sleeveless tops in my wardrobe, so I easily sent it back.

Verdict: Returned

Item #4
Brixon Ivy Sylvester Split Neck Blouse
Small / / $54

Once again, I have nothing against this top.  The color is pretty, the flowiness is on point, and the size was near perfect. However, it just didn't do anything extra special for me and besides, I have a few similar style tops in my closet already.

Verdict: Returned

Item #5
Liverpool Harper Bootcut Pant
Size 6 / / $88

Initially, I was least excited about this pair of work pants.  But like all pairs of pants Stitch Fix has ever sent me, these fit like a dream!  I was tempted to keep them.  But a) I don't tend to wear work pants very often (leggings and skinny pants, yes, but true work pants, not so much) and b) they required either heals (which I also don't wear like I used to!) or hemming.  Just not worth the $88 in my opinion!  So although I like them a lot, I couldn't justify keeping them.

Verdict: Returned

So overall, I really liked my fix!  It could have easily been a five for five, even though I only kept one thing!

...

And as an added bonus, my two purchases from Nordstrom's Anniversary sale.  I'm not a regular Nordstrom shopper and I won't pretend to be just because its the cool thing to do.  Give me Target and Old Navy and I'm a happy camper!!  However, I enjoy seeing what the fashion bloggers recommend and had fun window shopping through the online pages of sale items.  I came away with two things, but I have yet to decide whether I'm keeping either.  Perhaps you can help me decide!

First, this bell sleeve fleece pullover.  It's not quite as flowy as it appeared in the pictures and although I like the sleeves, I feel like they might annoy me.

Next, this off shoulder top.  I wasn't crazy in love with it until I saw these pictures.  In person, I feel a  little frumpy in it; however, I don't think these pictures portray that at all.  I bought this as a potential piece for family photos this fall, but I just can't decide if I love it.  Thoughts??

That's all for this episode of "Sarah pretends to be a fashion blogger".  Until next time! 😉

Stitch Fix #15

I didn't plan to receive another Stitch Fix until heading back to work in August, but then I got an email stating my next styling fee would be waived, so I figured "Why not?!"  Oh, Stitch Fix, you really know how to reel us in, don't you?  Anyway, I chose my date, but then forgot to add a note to my stylist, so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect!  However, like last time, I requested Raquel as my stylist and I'm so glad I did!  I feel like she took the time to browse my Pinterest board (she even read my last SF blog post!) and I was blown away with her ability to pick things suited just for me!  I also really liked the price point of the pieces in this fix; the most expensive item was $54.  I can easily jump on board with keeping pieces under $50!  So let's take a look at what I got!

(Also, I feel like these pictures are slightly out of focus.  I have no idea why, so sorry about that!)

Item #1
Gilli | Kamile 2fer Faux Suede Knit Dress
Size M | $54

This was an actual item I had pinned to my Pinterest board linked in my SF profile, so I was definitely excited to see it in my box!  The floral is so pretty and the dress is lengthy enough to wear to work, which is a requirement when spending more than $50 on a dress.  Looking back at the photos, I adore it!  But sadly, I decided to send it back.  I wasn't crazy about the ruching in the chest area and I don't love little cap sleeves like this (although in the pictures, the dress looks sleeveless).  Gosh, I'm sort of regretting that decision though!

Verdict: Returned

Item #2
Jolie | Christy Knit Maxi Dress
Size M | $48

I knew when I saw the black and white stripes that I was going to love this maxi dress!!!!  I put it on, fell in love, and there was no turning back!  I love how this dress appears to be two pieces (skirt and tank), but it is, in fact, all one piece.  The amount of flowiness is just right and it's as comfortable as it appears!  And again, it's work appropriate and under $50, which just sealed the deal!  However, I would have paid $78 for this beauty!  Quite possibly one of my all-time favorite pieces from SF!

Verdict: Kept
(and anxiously awaiting for an occasion to wear!)

Item #3
Q&A | Kellie Crochet Racerback Top
Size S | $48

I liked this top a lot upon pulling it from my box.  The color is gorgeous, the floral pattern is super cute, the length is great, and the crocheted detailing is just the right about of uniqueness to justify SF prices.  But, it just didn't feel quite right on me.  It was tight around my hips (they are unproportionally larger than my stomach) and seemed to pull funny when I moved.  Cute top, just not for me.  I'd also like to point out that this was my least favorite item in this fix...and I still liked it a lot!  That's how you know you have a winning box!

Verdict: Returned

Item #4
August Mist | Morgann Open Back Mixed Material Knit Top
Size S | $36

I wasn't super crazy about this top to begin...I loved the color, but just another cotton top, right?  I actually liked it a lot more when I put it on and even more looking back at the pictures!  I should have taken a picture of the back - it was a different material and featured an open slit across the top.  I could have easily justified this top (only $36), but was just as easily okay with sending it back.  Sidenote: Is it just me or does everything look better with a tan?!)

Verdict: Returned

Item #5
RD Style | Lauren Laser Cut Detail Drawstring Short
Size S | $54

And finally, these shorts.  If you saw my Daily Dime post yesterday, I mentioned how elastic shorts have been my jam lately.  So obviously, these speak my love language!  Plus the scalloped edges (which Raquel noticed via my Pinterest board) and laser-cut details?!  Just take my money, Stitch Fix!  I paired the shorts with multiple tops from my closet and love how I can dress them up or down.

Verdict: Kept!

So there's my latest (and greatest!) Stitch Fix!  A huge thank you to Raquel for personalizing it to my liking and I can't wait to see what you send in August!

Stitch Fix #14 + A Mother's Day GIVEAWAY

It's been awhile, but today I'm sharing another Stitch Fix!  I received a fix in January, but I didn't love it, nor did I love my post-baby body, so it never made its way to the blog.  I kept a pair of jeans, but that was it, so nothing super exciting anyway.  At that point, I decided I was going to take a Stitch Fix break, but then Craig signed up and used my referral code, so that meant a $25 credit, which of course I couldn't let go to waste.  I scheduled a fix for the end of April and pinned my little heart out - lots of springy things, dresses, etc!  (See Pinterest board below!)  I also requested the same stylist my blog friends Liz and Desiree use--and love--and had high hopes that she would come through with an amazing fix!

So let's get to the goodies, shall we?!

Item #1
Daniel Rainn | Albado Crew Neck Blouse
Size: M | $58

Stitch Fix Daniel Rainn Albado Crew Neck Blouse

First up is this floral print, sleeveless top.  I mentioned in my note to my stylist that I love the floral print trend right now and I was excited to see this in my box!  It's a tad big, but I prefer things loose and flowier-fitting, so that's something I can easily deal with.  I love that I can wear this to work (in hot or cold weather--just add a cardi!), but I can also throw it on with a pair of shorts to give it a more casual look.

Verdict: Kept! (And wore the very next day.)

Item #2
Abby & Gail | Craig Woven Hem Knit Top
Size: M | $34

Stitch Fix Abby & Gail Craig Woven Hem Knit Top

Stitch Fix Abby & Gail Craig Woven Hem Knit Top

At first glance, I loved this top!  Like I thought it was a keeper even before I tried it on!  I loved the muted colors, loved the ruffle at the bottom (especially loved that it covered my big hips), and loved the price ($34).  However, when making my final decisions, I just didn't feel like this top did anything for me and I decided to send it back.  These pictures almost make me regret that decision, but I will say, it looks better in the pictures than it did in real life.  And I didn't love it with shorts...which is what I would likely pair it with the most, so that solidified my decision.

Item #3
Hailey 23 | Kodi Jersey Maxi Dress
Size: M | $78

Stitch Fix Hailey 23 | Kodi Jersey Maxi Dress

Stitch Fix Hailey 23 | Kodi Jersey Maxi Dress

I mentioned in my stylist note that I would like a dress or two, one being a maxi.  This cobalt-blue floral print was so pretty and the dress was amazingly soft (silky almost), but it made me feel frumpy in the boob area and just didn't seem to lay right on my chest.  And for $78, I needed to love it.

Verdict: Returned

Item #4
THML | Chana Embroidered Dress
Size: M | $74

Stitch Fix: THML | Chana Embroidered Dress

And then there's this dress.   Love the colors, love the pattern, love the v-neck, love the flowiness of it.  I debated and debated.  I asked the hubs.  I posted a picture on IG stories.  I texted a few friends.  In fact, I checked out a whole two days later than I should have because I. just. couldn't. decide.  In the end I decided A) it was a tad large and B) $74 for a summer dress is a bit steep.  So as sad as it made me, I sent it back.  And now I miss it. :( :(

Item #5
Tai | Eros Crystal Ear Jacket
Color: Turquoise | $34

Stitch Fix: Tai | Eros Crystal Ear Jacket

And finally, these earrings.  There's nothing wrong with them, but they're earrings.  I was a little disappointed to know one of my five items was wasted on a pair of earrings (note to self: change that in my style profile/preferences!), but it is what it is.  I didn't even try them on and only took them out of the box for a photo.

Stitch Fix: Tai | Eros Crystal Ear Jacket

Verdict: Returned

So there's my most recent, spring 2017 fix.  What do you think?  Should I have kept that dress?  Don't say yes..... 🙉

Also, shout out to my hair stylist, Ashley, for making my hair look so good in these photos!  Mental note to always schedule my hair appointments to coincide with my SF delivery days because, seriously, those beachy waves sure make a girl feel good! 😍

Anyway, I've teamed up with some blogger friends to give away a $150 Stitch Fix gift card in honor of Mother's Day!  You definitely don't have to be a mom to enter, but since we all have "mommy blogs" and you read them, you more than likely are!  The giveaway closes at 11:59 on Sunday, May 14th; the winner will be announced next Monday!
