We had another doctor's appointment this morning, which included the infamous glucose test, a Rhogam shot in my booty (for my negative blood type), and another sonogram. The glucola I had to drink was not as bad as I anticipated, but so sweet that it made my stomach feel funny for awhile...or maybe that was my nerves, as I'm scared out of my mind of needles! I'm hoping the results to the blood sugar test come back in normal range so I don't have to suffer through the four-hour test. *Fingers crossed* Oh, and if you're wondering, the shot was horrible either, but it did burn as the medicine was being dispersed. Oh, how I can't wait for the epidural.....
On the plus side, we got to see our precious little baby via sonogram! He weighed in at 2 pounds, 4 ounces and is in the 54th percentile. (Mommy likes those numbers...very average.) His heart rate was around 155ish. The photos confirm he's still a boy and we got a number of cute, facial profile pics. I'm going to have the hubs scan them at work tomorrow, and I will post asap! The sonogram did show one minor concern of possible fluid around his brain due to the size of one of his ventricles. Normal size of the ventricle ranges anywhere up to 1 (cm?) and Baby's measured 0.9...still normal but on the high end. We are going to Shawnee Mission Medical Center tomorrow for a level 2 ultrasound so a doc that specializes in brain/ultrasounds can give us his opinion. I'm trying to stay positive and I'm hopeful that everything is normal, but any thoughts/prayers you could direct our way would be greatly appreciated!
I start going for doctor's appointments every two weeks now, which is so crazy to me! More good news--with exactly three months until my due date, I have only gained 14 pounds! Wahoo!
How Far Along: 27 Weeks
Size of Baby: Cauliflower (~13.6 to 14.8 inches and 1.5 to 2.5 pounds...2 1/4 to be exact according to the sonogram)
What's Happening (according to thebump.com):
Baby Sides' is inhaling and exhaling with his rapidly developing lungs. His brain is also showing activity and will keep on getting more complex.
Milestone: While his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning--with a lot of medical help--if he was born today! Not that I want that to happen, but at least he's capable of surviving...
Cravings: None really... just food like always!
Movement: Lots and lots! Still not a nuisance yet, nor does it hurt, and has yet to wake me up at night. Anytime the hubs tries to feel though, Baby does not cooperate!
Sleep: The same.
Clothing: I broke down and bought a couple pairs of maternity pants. I just couldn't squeeze into my old jeans anymore....well, I could, but it wasn't pretty! I bought one pair of maternity jeans (Old Navy) and one pair of khaki-type pants (see pic below, also Old Navy). Neither pair has the maternity panel; both sit just below my belly. They are actually quite comfy and the jeans provide lots of relief compared to my old ones!
Other Pregnancy Symptoms: Still experiencing
Braxton Hicks contractions, still have sore hands, and still have to pee all the time. Luckily, I don't think my hands or feet have begun to swell yet.
