I'm pretty sure we're the last ones in Blogland to go strawberry picking this year! We went last year (for the first time ever) and had so much fun that I couldn't wait to do it again this year. However, with strawberry season quickly coming to an end while school was still in session, I was nervous about missing it! I made tentative plans to go with Vanessa and her crew as soon as school was out...and I even voluntarily kept the boys home from daycare (and passed on a day to myself) to take them! It was a muddy, juicy mess of a day, but so, so worth every minute of cleaning and scrubbing afterwards!
As for the picking itself, let's just say I picked every strawberry that ended up in our refrigerator at home. Holden preferred to eat every strawberry he touched, while Brantley asked "Is this a good one, Mom?" right before taking a bite and then chucking all of his berries as if they were baseballs. I probably should have offered to pay for two extra pounds.
Of course, we couldn't not get a picture of our four hoodlums together against the...watermelon barn? I'm sure it was intended to be a strawberry, but it sure looked more like a watermelon to us!
And because we've been eating strawberries out the wazoo, tomorrow I'll be back to share five of our favorite strawberry-related recipes!

Nope, you aren't the last ones. Our season hasn't even started here in WI. The strawberries should be ready any day! We can't wait!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had so much fun!
I love the pictures of the boys eating their berries. That is what Emmy did with every berry she picked. Adorable! But that's what makes it so much fun.
ReplyDeleteWe still haven't made it out to pick ours so we are officially the last ones in blogland :) But it looks like y'all had a blast!
ReplyDeleteThey are serious about eating their strawberries, I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're not the last, because we haven't gone! I wonder if we're too late. Love the pictures!
ReplyDeleteHow fun!! I will have to mark this down for next year...seems like a messy good time ;)
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking of trying to find a place locally to pick strawberries! Looks like you guys got some delicious ones!
ReplyDeleteI always say they should weigh the kids before and after strawberry picking :)
ReplyDeleteI just can't get over how big Holden is looking these days!!! You got some great shots! Also, we left all of our strawberries in Great Bend :( :(
ReplyDeleteYummy, those berries look delicious & the boys seem to be enjoying them. :)
ReplyDeleteSO. FUN!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have anything like that round us, but it looks like the best time ever! And, I'm with Holden, I probably would have eaten all the strawberries I picked! I think it's hilarious that Brantley would take a nibble and then chuck them. HAHA!!!
And that door DOES look like a watermelon.

I wanted to go strawberry picking so bad! I searched and searched for a place to do that around here and NOTHING! We have corn fields galore, but no strawberry farms. Such a bummer! Your boys are adorable. Love the photos! And I agree, looks like a watermelon!
