As Seen on Pinterest

Have you noticed yet that many conversations these days revolve around Pinterest?  I feel like I'm constantly saying "I want to try this thing I saw on Pinterest" or "Have you seen that idea on Pinterest?"  And it's no wonder, there are SO many great ideas on there!  I asked Craig the other day, "Do you think Lowe's and Home Depot have gotten more business since Pinterest has become so popular?"  He laughed.  I wasn't kidding.

Anyway, I love getting holiday cards in the mail this time of year, but we've never had a way to display them.  So, there they sit, on our kitchen counter.  I came across this idea on Friday and decided it would be my weekend project.

It's a window shutter, painted red, and hung on the wall.  Perfect for displaying all those cute cards!  I drug the hubs to Home Depot Saturday morning on a hunt for a wooden shutter.  Who knew they were so hard to find?  All they had were these huge, vinyl, extra-wide, expensive shutters.  Like $50+ for a two-pack!  No thank you!  I proceeded to call Lowe's, Ace Hardware, Hobby Lobby, and Michael's...again with no luck.  I was pretty bummed.  Luckily, the hubby thought it was such a cool idea, he was determined to find some shutters.  He searched Craigslist and found someone selling a pack of four for $20 in DeSoto!  He was even nice enough to drive there and get them for me!  From there, he sort of took charge.  He spray painted them red, added some glitter (yes, that was HIS idea), and hung a wire to the back to attach to the wall.  And viola--we have a place for all our cards!  So friends, please send us your cards so we look as popular as the lady I stole the idea from!

And, just for fun, here's another project I stole from Pinterest: DIY closet dividers for a new baby.  I made them for my friend Sarah, who is having a baby boy very soon!  There were kind of a pain to make...it was hard to cut the circles to be the perfect size.  Luckily, I have a circle cutter scrapbook tool that helped.  But they are VERY cute--and I would think very useful!  I found the white dividers online for around fifty cents a piece, and modge podged scrapbook paper to them.  I attached some stickers with the size ranges.  I'll definitely be making some of these for myself when the time comes!

Stay tuned for my next Pinterest creation...
