Bumpdate: Weeks 15 & 16

Like with most things in life, I just can't keep up with these weekly pregnancy updates!  A friend and blog follower commented the other day about how she admires my consistency of blog posts...and I had to chuckle.  Only because there are about eight drafts just sitting in Blogger, waiting, patiently, for me to complete.  To add commentary, or photos, or, in most cases, both.  The obligatory pumpkin patch post, for instance.  We were good parents and took our kiddo to the pumpkin patch this fall, like every other fall-obsessed person.  However, the post has yet to make it into the "published" status, as does the pumpkin carving post, among others.  Oh, such is life I suppose.

Anyway, my point being, I missed my 15-week update.  I'll consider it a success if I can post these prego updates every other week with Baby #2.  After all, I am a full-time working mama who teaches three different preps to my 120+ "kids" at school while trying to raise a 1-year-old...which is pretty much a full-time job in itself.  And it makes for a pretty drastic change from pregnancy #1.  So I'm taking it easy on myself and saying one post every two to three weeks is sufficient.  And c'mon, how much really changes in one week anyway??

In the midst of week 15, I got sick.  Like with every symptom in the book.  Sore throat, achy body, pounding head, congestion, drainage, upset stomach, and worse of all, vomiting.  The stomach flu + pregnancy do not mix well.  I don't wish it upon anyone.  Lucky for me, I only threw up once, but was confined to the couch for an entire day.  The hubs deserves some major props for taking care of Brantley everything while I tried to recover.

Otherwise, I'm feeling pretty good minus the morning sickness every few days.  Still.  Time is flying and I'm definitely not complaining!  Appointment #3 happens later this week.  With Brantley, I remember thinking the four weeks between appointments drug on.  I was always counting down to the next one.  Now, I look at my calendar and realize my appointment is only a few days away!  With the excitement and craziness of the upcoming holiday season, I have a feeling the third trimester will be here in the blink of an eye!  Which means April isn't too far behind... :)

How Far Along: 16 weeks

Size of Baby: ~4 1/2 inches, about 3 1/2 ounces; the size of an avocado (In the next few weeks, Baby is supposed to double in his/her weight and add multiple inches in length!)

Gender: Still go back and forth on this one.  Three weeks from today and we'll know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  (Can you sense my excitement??)

Weight Gain: Still only 6 pounds.

Food Cravings: Ummm...leftover Halloween candy?  Oh wait, that's not a craving.  Just a no self-control thing.  No major cravings.

Food Aversions: We got barbeque last weekend and one bite in to my pulled pork sandwich and I wanted to hurl.  But, to be fair, I threw up later that night (stomach flu).

Movement: Every now and then.  But haven't noticed as much as I did two weeks ago.

Sleep: Great!  Not following the rules of sleeping on my left side and still sleeping on my stomach while I still can!

Clothing: Still fitting into my regular pants, buttoned and without Bella Band!

Other Pregnancy Symptoms: Still nauseous.  About 2 to 3 days per week.  Gagging while brushing my teeth.  Still have headaches galore.

Differences from Pregnancy #1: Time is FLYING!  Seriously, 16 weeks already?!  And only three until we find out the sex?!  How is that even possible??

What I Miss: Beer.  Wine.  You name it.  Especially with the colder days and darker nights.  I'd sure love a glass of red wine about now.

Best Moment: Still fitting into my pants?  I don't know.  Nothing sticks out in my mind from this week...

Looking Forward To: Sono in THREE weeks!  And then, potentially re-decorating the nursery.  (Or planning Brantley's big boy room...I'll cool with either!)

As for my baby bump, I feel like I popped out very quickly this time around (8 weeks), and then stalled.  I really don't think I've grown much in the past four weeks.  Which is fine.  If I stay as small as I did with Brantley, I would be just fine.
