A Revolving Door to our Guest Bedroom

Our guest bedroom has had quite the revolving door lately.

First my sister Trisha, brother-in-law Justin, and nephew Kellen arrived last Wednesday evening.  We met them at Fritz's Railroad Restaurant in Shawnee.  Now that we have kids old enough, we have an excuse to go!  The food was average (as to be expected), but the boys LOVED the train!  Even at the age of one, they were intrigued.

It was hard enough to get them to look at the camera.  Even harder to get them to keep their conductor hats on.  So basically impossible to get them to each look at the camera, at the same time, with their hats on.  So here's a collage instead. :)

"Seriously Mom, I'm trying to watch this train"
And of course, we couldn't leave without a picture in front of the restaurant's sign.  Fritz is, after all, our maiden name!

Later that evening, my parents arrived.  We kept Brantley awake a wee bit longer than normal so he could see Gramma and Papa.  (Or really, so they could see him!)

The following day was the 4th of July.  We decided to take the boys to Deanna Rose Farmstead.  But first, a few pictures of the cousins in their festive red, white, and blue.

Before heading into Deanna Rose, we had a nice, family picnic.  If that doesn't scream Independence Day, I'm not sure what does!

The rest of the day consisted of some pool time, grilling out, and of course, watching fireworks.  Sounds like a quintessential 4th of July to me!

Headed to the pool
The best 4th of July treats ever - mini fruit pizzas with festive fruit!
Side note about the fruit pizzas: they're a biotch to make.  Well, they weren't as bad as I remembered, but they're not the easiest.  I following these instructions for the second year in a row.  My suggestion is to spray the mini muffin tins with Pam.  Otherwise the crust sticks, breaks, and/or crumbles.  Or all three.  They're sooooo good though and worth the hassle!

The following day was Friday.  While I geared up for the following day's big party, the fam ran some errands.  My grandparents arrived that afternoon and then that evening, we all headed to the Royals vs. A's game for Buck Night and Fireworks Friday!

We were hashtagging #Instaroyals in hopes of making it on the Jumbotron.  I mean, seriously, how could they not choose a picture of two adorable babies??  Especially this one.

But...they didn't.  I'll never understand.  A few more pics at the Royals game.  By the way, it was my grandparents' very first MLB game ever!

Our seats were really high.  That's what ya get when you buy the $15 Groupons apparently.

But perfect for fireworks!  I just love Fireworks Friday!  Seriously love this place I call home!

The following day was the party.  My grandparents left that afternoon, but Craig's parents occupied the guest bedroom that night.

Everyone left on Sunday (after breakfast at Mimi's) and we cleaned house, played with our 1-YEAR OLD, and tried to recuperate from the night before.

The next day, my college roommate/bff, Casey, and her fam stopped for an overnight visit on their way to Branson.  She has two adorable (and ornery) girls, Charlie (3) and Holland (1).  The only picture I got was of the kiddos at bath time.  Brantley's first bath with girls...how could I not take a picture??

We were so happy to see so many of our family and friends over the holiday weekend and thrilled to have visitors for a few days, but oh-so exhausted once they left!  This about sums it up...

Life is back to normal now...and I think Brantley is finally caught up on his sleep...until Saturday morning, that is, when we head to the Ozarks for a week!  Tis the season!
