Thanksgiving 2014

While the rest of blogland posted recaps and photos of their Thanksgivings last week, here I am, nearly two weeks later finally posting about ours.  I'm not sure life will ever slow down...

This year, Thanksgiving was spent in Iowa with my family.  When in Iowa, we get to indulge in two Thanksgiving meals - one with my mom's side and one with my dad's.  Luckily, they are never on the same day.  This year, they were two days apart, which gave our stomach's plenty of time to recover and gear up for round two. :)

We spent Thanksgiving Day with my mom's side.  I posted about all the boys on that side last spring.  Well, now those boys are all six months older and the crazy is just beginning.  It was so much fun watching the three older boys play!  Kellen, Brantley, and Jackson are within six months of each other and I was so excited for the three of them to get together.  I know the same will be true for the three younger boys two years from now.  Boy, oh boy!  Oh, and did I mention my sister is pregnant with yet another boy?!  That will make four grandkids for my parents - all boys - and the seventh boy in a row of the eight great-grandkids on my mom's side.  Anywho, I was a bad mom blogger and my camera never once left its case.  Thankfully, my amazing cousin's-in-law did and she was nice enough to share her photos.

The only photos taken at our other Thanksgiving were on my lovely iPhone.  It gets a little crazy between my dad's seven brothers and sisters and their significant others, 17 grandkids and significant others of the older ones, and 10 great grandkids.  Wears me out just thinking about it!

Other highlights of our time in Iowa included the town square Christmas lighting, lots of games of Oh Hell and Spades with my parents, lunch with one of my high school besties and her hubby (at a new - and amazing - sushi place, nonetheless!), and let's not forget about this lovely gem.  A doughnut covered in bacon.  Yum.

A few more random iPhone photos.

That last one...that's what I saw when I looked at the back seat en route to Iowa.  Kinnick on top of Holden. And Holden just acting like it was no big deal.  Weird dog.

We had a pretty fab Thanksgiving and enjoyed the few extra days off with the boys.  Looking forward to the next holiday now more than ever!
