Sunflower Fields Forever

There's this place about 30 minutes outside of Kansas City - Grinter Farms - or as most people now know as the massive field of sunflowers.  I remember seeing photographers posting pictures of this gorgeous location for the first time two or three years ago, and last year, I asked around to see if anyone knew where to find the this field of flowers.  Well, word has gotten out and we visited this weekend {for the second year in a row} with what seemed like the entire population of the KC metro area!  Like last year, I had such high hopes for photos.  But then reality hits when the boys don't cooperate, the hubby gets impatient, the sun is harsh, and it's hard to find an angle without handfuls of random people in the background.  But whatever, sometimes it's more about the memories than the photos, right?! ;)

And note to self, IF we decide to venture back next year (with a third kid in tow), go early.  Like early-early.  7am early!  Yes, it will make for an early weekend wake-up, but it will also help ease some of the photo-taking stress!

See last year's trip here.

  1. Absolutely gorgeous photos! Wow! What an amazing sunflower field. They are such happy flowers and always bring a smile to my face. My hubby would be the same way. He is always so impatient when it comes to photos.

  2. Beautiful! We've learned the hard way, too. The earlier the pictures are scheduled, the happier the boys. :)

  3. Early is usually the way to go even if you have to drag yourselves out of bed, and I find that hubby impatience rivals kid impatience in all things pictures. But, these pictures are so lovely. I want fields of flowers somewhere.

  11. I love every. single. shot.
And, all I can think of when I see these amazing photos is HOME (just like the boys' tees clearly state).
I'm dying to get back one of these years when the sunflowers are in bloom.

Every time I read Vanessa's blog title, I think of sunflowers, and this is perfect! I would LOVE to see these fields one day! When is sunflower season?! Could I possibly see them next summer or is that too early?

  14. Okay so I think this is the first time I have ever seen your husband. BAH! Of course, this isn't the first time you've shared him with your blog but I'm pretty sure I've never seen him before.

And now... I sound a little creepy!
