Stitch Fix #12 (First Maternity Fix!)

For the third year in a row, I decided to schedule a Stitch Fix for the beginning of August because seriously, it's a whole lot easier going back to work when you have new clothes to wear!  This also happened to be my first maternity fix.  I took a little SF break because I wasn't thrilled with my last fix (way back in March), but I was excited to see the maternity side of things.  I didn't ask for anything specific except five articles of clothing (as opposed to any accessories).  I also asked my stylist to use my Pinterest board as inspiration, which I now realize only had five items pinned to it!  Oops!  Anyway, here's what I got!

Item #1 | Liverpool Mira Maternity Skinny Jean

I didn't specifically ask for a pair of jeans, but I'm sure glad they sent them!!  As do all of the SF pants I've ever received, they fit like a dream!  And even though I was pregnant just three years ago, I have no maternity skinny jeans!!  I am only supposed to wear jeans to work on Fridays, which means I will probably wear these every Friday between now and the end of November...and likely every weekend day, too!  These are definitely a winner!

Verdict: Kept!

Item #2 | Tart Maternity Sanai Striped Maternity Dress

I loved this dress out of the box...and then I put it on.  Holy tightness!!!!!  It looks okay in the photos, but there's no way I could wear this dress to school and feel good about it!  I'm a curvy girl--with a big booty--and it was just a little too tight for my liking.  Besides, $88 for a maternity dress (unless for a special occasion) is just a bit steep if you ask me!  Side note: I do love this dress paried with my military jacket!  I found a similar style dress (that's not nearly as tight at Target for $25--versus the $88 for this one!)

Verdict: Returned

Item #3 | Daniel Rainn Driegan Maternity Top

This was by far my favorite item out of the box.  I loved the lace, loved the bohemian style, and loved that it's not the same-old maternity-style top you find elsewhere.  But it was huuuuuuuuuge.  Like so, so wide on me and it made me look about five times wider than I actually am!  And I grow wide during pregnancy anyway so I don't need any help there!  I also didn't love that it was pretty see-through.  Had this top been about two sizes smaller, less see-through, a little longer so that I could wear it with leggings, I would have kept it in a heartbeat, despite the high price tag ($74).

Verdict: Returned

Item #4 | Market & Spruce Sollas Maternity Knit Top

This was definitely the most basic of pieces in my fix--just a short-sleeved cotton tee.  I do love the color and the material is super soft.  I love the length, as it's quite a big longer than the maternity tees I have from my previous pregnancies.  I could easily wear it under a jacket or cardigan and make it last until November.  It's pretty basic for the price ($38), so I have yet to decide if I want to keep it.

Verdict: Undecided

Item #5 | Loveappella Maternity Davidi Button Detail Maternity Top

And finally, this 3/4-ish sleeve striped gray top.  Also a very basic cotton tee but this one v-necked and with stripes, which are totally my thing, especially while pregnant!  Like the last top, this one is also longer than many of my previous maternity tops, which I really like!  The price point ($48) is maybe a little higher than what I think it's worth, which has my undecided once again.

Verdict: Undecided

Overall, I'm very pleased with this fix.  The style is spot on, despite the couple of basic pieces, but I'm still undecided on what to keep!  On one hand, I need some things to wear for the next three months (and likely afterwards because let's be honest, who is back in their normal wardrobe immediately upon delivering their baby?!) but this is also my final pregnancy so I don't want to spend too much money on maternity clothing!!

Help me decide--what do you think?!

  1. I love everything!!! I loved the pair of skinny maternity jeans I had during Emmy's pregnancy. Everything looks great on you. :)

  2. I love both of your undecided pieces! I also love Gap Maternity clothes and can usually get them 40% off!

  3. Jeans, yes! My friend gave me all her maternity clothes since she just had her last. I love the grey stripe, I would get that one! It seems like you'd get lots of use out of it.

  4. You are so adorable! I would have kept those jeans too!

  5. I have that Tart dress and it is my all time favorite maternity item! Definitely more a date night item, but not damn!

  6. Personally I don't think I'd keep the regular looking t-shirts that you can get for cheaper at Old Navy, but they do look great on you!

  7. I'm glad you found a similar dress, because it's so cute with that jacket!

  8. Great Fix! Love the jeans! It's hard finding a great pair of maternity jeans! I like the pink top, but for $38, I wouldn't pull the trigger. You can get a similar top elsewhere for much less. I'd keep the striped top though.

  9. I love the dress on you, glad you found a cheaper version!

  10. I really like the pink & striped tops. That white shirt - oh, I'm so glad you returned, it did make you look a lot bigger than you actually are. I liked the dress with the green jacket over it, I thought it looked cute but if you're not comfortable, it doesn't pay to keep it. I think that you made the right choices. :)

  11. Aww I loved that dress on you! Too bad it was too tight.

  12. That dress is adorable--hate that it was too tight! I definitely think you can find some cute tees at Old Navy or Target for much better prices. That's my cheap side talkin' though! They are both really cute!

  13. Keep that gray striped vneck!!! Way cuter than the basic tee, though you look darling in everything, Sarah!

  14. So I have that gray v-neck too and I wear it literally every week. I'd keep that one and return the other top since it's more basic!

  15. This is a great fix!!! I love almost everything. I'd definitely send back that white top because like you said, it definitely makes you look bigger than you are. You have such a cute bump and that did nothing for you. BUT everything else I liked! In fact, I LOVE that dress on you but if it's too tight and if you could find one for significantly cheaper, I'd definitely return it. The other two shirts, especially the plain pink one, you could totally spruce up and change up and you could probably even wear them once a week once it gets colder and you could throw on some scarves or sweaters. Overall, I'd say the fix was pretty great!

  16. You look SO cute in all of the stuff they sent! Your box was way better than my maternity fixes! I like what you kept and I think the last top is really flattering on you and I bet it would be a great staple through the rest of your pregnancy.

  17. I think the tops you should keep. While basic, I think you can dress them up and down and work them all through your pregnancy and that's a win in my book as maternity clothes aren't something you can wear after the fact.

  18. Keep the gray striped top! It's so cute, and would look good with your military jacket, too!
Bummer about the striped dress, it looks adorable on!

  19. You look so cute!! Love the jeans you kept!!! :)

  20. I love them all actually!!! But yes it would be so hard for me to pull the trigger on some of the more expensive ones :) but it would also be nice to have s few new awesome pieces since your pregnancy is a totally different time this year!!

  21. How fun! I've never done SF but it looks like something I might have to try!

I love those jeans, good choice on keeping them, and that dress looks so good on you but only you know how it feels, and I agree $88 is a bit steep!!

That white shirt looks so good on the picture but you're right, just too wide which is a bummer because the detail is so nice!

Those other shirts are adorable too but knowing me, I would probably return and grab something at Motherhood for less money

  22. Oh, I love all the items you received. I'm a huge fan of SF pants, so I'm not surprised they nailed that one. How do they do it? I love the coral top on you! Such a pretty color. And that striped top would be a definite keep for me. You could pair that with anything and it would probably also look great post-partum.
