Friday Five

Here we are, the final Friday of my summer break.  I don't know how or why 11 weeks seem to pass so darn quickly, but alas, Tuesday means back to the grind for yet another school year (my 10th!).  In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy the next three days without any thoughts of teaching, parents, my classroom, or the dreadful inservice days to start the year.  Instead, how about a random list of five things right now?

I attended a Norwex party on Monday and won a body cloth.  I've been using it to wash my face all week; hence, I haven't used facewash in four days!  It feels weird when I've been using facewash every day--twice per day--for the past 20+ years, but it really does magically remove all of my makeup!  I also purchased a 3-pack of make-up removal cloths (similar to the body cloths but specifically for your face) and I can't wait to try them out.  Not only are they supposed to be better for your skin, but it makes going to bed so much easier!!

Anyway, as if Tuesday won't already be tiresome enough, I have decided to host a Norwex party of my own that evening.  I'm not usually a direct-sales-party-hosting kind of person, but there are just so many products I'm interested in trying and I would prefer to get them at a discounted rate.  If there are any must-try products you recommend, please leave them in the comments below and I will definitely check them out!  (I already have the EnviroCloth, the window cloth, and the dust mitt.)  Also, if you are interested in being added to the Facebook group or you're in need of any refills on products, let me know!  You can purchase products through my party and they can be shipped directly to you for only $2 more than the regular shipping cost!

This has been my go-to lunch for a good portion of the summer.  Smashed avocado and chick peas on toast topped with sliced tomato.  It is delicious and I like to think it's pretty healthy, too!

I traded the ole Mazda 6 for our new minivan last Thursday.  And then on Tuesday, I traded back so a few things on the van could be fixed.  (They were on order when I first took the van last week.)  Anyway, never in my life have I wanted a van more than after driving one for four straight days!  Talk about a tease to have to turn it back over to the dealership!!  However, perhaps for the best because as I was driving on Wednesday, a rock hit my windshield and shattered it!  The windshield on my car already needed replaced due to a crack, so it shouldn't affect the trade-in value, but seriously, I'm so thankful that didn't happen in our new van!!

Back-to-school shopping is in full effect over here!  Brantley was in dire need of some new tennies before heading back to daycare/preschool full time, so we set out to find some the other day.  Because of the BOGO-half-off promo, I couldn't not get him a second pair so he got a pair of Nikes, but also an adorable pair of Converse.  I can't wait to see his feet rock these things!  I also ordered him a new backpack from PBK.  Last year, I bought one from Target, and although it was cute, it barely lasted the entire year (and he only had preschool two days per week!).  I'm hoping the PBK backpack holds up a little better!

I swear, Walmart gets better by the day!  Dare I say Walmart is becomming the new Target?  Okay, that may be a stretch...   Anyway, I came across these earrings the other day!  For $3 a pair!!!!!

And earlier this summer, I also got these two pairs of shorts and two lacey, sports-bra-like bras (I think the youngsters these days call them bralettes?).  Walmart is really stepping up their game!

And if you don't already use their Savings Catcher app, it is a must!  All you have to do is scan your receipts and they will compare prices with local competitors.  If there is a lower price elsewhere, you will get a refund--it's that simple!  I've redeemed $40 in reward dollars (lower prices) and have about $9 more waiting for me!

Have a great weekend!  And remember to leave your Norwex suggestions in the comments below!

P.S. Have you entered my PinkBlush giveaway?  $75 is up for grabs and it's open only through tomorrow!  Winner announced next week!

  1. Boo to summer ending. I hear ya on the dreaded inservice days. I always hated those when I was teaching. That lunch looks so yummy! So glad the windshield issue wasn't with your new van. That would have been so frustrating. Have a great weekend!!!

  2. I love Walmart Savings Catcher! I wait until I'm at $50 before cashing in my rewards. I've been doing it a lil over a year now & have already cashed in once. :)

You know, I don't like avocado or chickpeas but that looks delicious. Ha!

  3. That lunch looks so yummy! I need to come visit your Walmart because ours doesn't have any of that good stuff. I was in there last night and it wasn't nearly as good!

  4. Wal-Mart has been raising the game, and I love it! (Especially since we live nowhere near a Target!!) I have a crack in my windshield and it drives me freakin' crazy!!

  5. I can't believe you are already going back to school so soon! I swear you just ended. The summer went by entirely too fast!
So glad that the windshield crack happened on your old car and not your new van!!!
And that toast! I've seen SO many people post about avocado toast and I am literally drooling wanting some. Unfortunately we're out of bread AND avocado so I must fix that this weekend!

  6. I love my Norwex! The mop is AMAZING. I'm guessing you'll probably get it from hosting. I also love the dryer balls. But, the magic of the Enviro and Window cloth is tough to beat!

  7. So I've recently fallen for WalMart but only one particular one which is 25 minutes away but I don't go but maybe once a month or longer. It's the cleanest one and it's not a huge pain to shop.

  9. I'm so jealous of all the fun stuff I've seen you and some other bloggers post from Walmart. When I stop at our local Walmart, I never find anything good!

  10. Walmart is rocking it lately! I've been so impressed, too! I love the savings catcher! If, for whatever reason, Luke goes to Walmart, I hound him til I get the receipt. haha!

  12. Confession – I’ve never even heard of Norwex. I guess it hasn’t really made its way to Texas yet! Or I am just living under a rock. That could be it, too! Ha. Another confession – I am not a tomato lover, but that looks delicious! I agree about Walmart. It’s getting so good. Do you follow the whoawaitwalmart Instagram account? Love it! I got those exact earrings in blue (which would be perfect for your KC gear and my Texas Rangers gear) a couple weeks ago, but haven’t seen the leopard ones. So cute! If our Walmart still has the blue ones next time I go I will grab you a pair!! I really need to be using their savings catcher app since I go there almost every Sunday!
