This Summer vs. Last

In honor of the first day of summer (even though I considered it "summer" four weeks ago), I thought I'd compare this summer to last summer.  My, how things have changed!

Last summer, I could sleep in, and did, most days until 9am!
This summer, I'm up between 6:15 and 7:15.  Everyday.

Last summer, my weekday pool visits consisted of basking in the sun and enjoying my alone time.
This summer, they consist of sitting in the baby pool and mingling with other moms!

Last summer, I could take naps whenever I wanted.  (And there were lots of them!)
This summer, my naps revolve around Brantley's napping schedule.  And even so, I usually choose to use his naptimes for other things - like blogging!

Last summer, I was anxiously awaiting signs of labor.
This summer, I am anxiously awaiting a big first birthday party!

Last summer, I could barely make it around the block on walks without panting and sweating.
This summer, I can push a stroller, walk a dog, and still barely break a sweat.

Last summer, my only baby was my doggy.
This summer, that poor doggy doesn't get much attention anymore.

Last summer, our house was clean and clutter-free.
This summer, there are toys everywhere and bits and pieces of food scattered all over our kitchen floor.

Last summer, I still had four months before returning to work.
This summer, I'm down to six weeks.  *Tear*

Last summer, I had no idea what to expect in a life with baby.
This summer, I'm proud to have survived our first year and wouldn't change it for the world!

Happy summer everyone!
