It's Chrismas at Our House!

Tree.  Check!

Lights.  Check!  (Courtesy of the hubs.)

Cards ordered.  Despite the very difficult decision, check!

Accomplished all-things Christmas this weekend!  Here are a few pics of Brantley helping put up his first Christmas tree.  Yeah right, he sat in his swing and watched as Mommy and Daddy did all the hard work. :)

So looking forward to the super short week and extra time with B-Man.

Oh and by the way...there are only

That's all for now.  Happy *almost* holidays!

Consumed

No time for blogging lately.  (Story of my life it seems.)  Every spare minute has been consumed with working on my portfolio (final) project for my masters.  It's due on the 26th, as in nine days from today.  But it really needs to be done prior to leaving town for Thanksgiving...which is Wednesday.  I just started on it on Monday.  And I've known about it since the end of August.  My own fault for waiting this long, but I did not want to spend my maternity leave working on it.  And since going back to work, mid-November snuck up too quickly.  Anyway, the project requires seven papers and a presentation.  I'm done with 5 1/2 papers and the presentation, so I'm almost there!  I'm feeling much better about the stupid thing now than I did a few days ago, but it's still weighing pretty heavily on me.  Graduation in 4 weeks!  I can.not.wait!

In other news, we took Brantley for his 4-month appointment yesterday.  He's up to 14 pounds 13 ounces.  So our luggage scale was pretty close!  4-months means more immunizations.  Poor guy.  He forgot about them pretty quickly, but cried a little harder than he did at 2 months.  We also got the go-ahead to start rice cereal!  Our little man is growing up quickly. :(

No big plans this weekend.  Wait, really big plans.  We're putting up our Christmas tree tonight!  Wine, Christmas music, and holiday decor = awesome.  And with a baby this year.  I can't wait to start fun, family, holiday traditions!

I only took three Instagrams this week.  And the third I took yesterday just to have another pic!  Seriously, you know I'm busy when I only take three cell phone pics in seven days!  So, here they are!  My measly Friday Saturday Photo Dump.  Happy weekend!

Some Family Photos

A few weeks ago, we met our wonderful friend, Jamie, at Lake Lenexa for some family photos.  I mainly wanted one good photo for Christmas cards, but also a few three month shots of B-Man and some decent family photos for our wall.  She finished editing them and gave me the cd earlier this week!  The pictures are great, as always!  I don't love how I look...I'm always too critical of myself.  But Brantley Boy is adorable, despite not smiling.  Here are some of my faves!

Once again, a HUGE thank you to Jamie for your time and for capturing some cute shots of our sweet, little family!

Then & Now

A photo taken last November...

And a similar pose taken just a few weeks ago...

Makes me smile!!  More photos to come SOON!

Cousin Time

I snapped this picture last weekend in Iowa and must share!  It's too funny not to!

Just be careful, Kellen, because Brantley's bigger than you and one of these days, he's gonna get you back!

And a few others...

Brantley's First Halloween

Though Brantley was still a little young for trick or treating, we didn't miss the opportunity to dress him up for his first Halloween!  Originally, I wanted themed costumes for our entire family.  I bought Kinnick a hot dog costume and we were going to be the condiments: ketchup, mustard, and relish.  But one, I didn't see the point of making costumes when we weren't going anywhere.  And two, a condiment makes for a pretty boring first Halloween costume for B.  So, I returned the hot dog (costume, not dog) and we scratched that.  Maybe next year.

Instead, Brantley was a pumpkin and Kinnick a bat.  Themed.  Sort of.  We dressed up for a few pictures, but to be honest, Brantley wasn't super fond of the pumpkin leaves in his face.  Likewise with Kinnick and the wings.  But he didn't have a choice.

We welcomed the trick or treaters for awhile and then headed up the street two houses for a firepit in the neighbor's driveway.  Brantley enjoyed being around his friend, Dane (the dinosaur), who is just a few weeks older than he!

And that's how we spend Brantley's first ever Halloween.

Brantley Carter: 4 Months Old!

4 months already?!?!??!  That is just crazy talk!  Since this momma always thinks in terms of numbers, that's 1/3 of a year!  My baby is 1/3 of a year old!!  Doesn't even seem possible!

It also doesn't seem possible that it's been over a year since I found out I was pregnant!  I meant to do a blog post on the 1-year anniversary (October 27 to be exact), but never got to it.  It's amazing to me that one year ago you were the size of a poppy seed and now this!  We are so proud of you Brantley, our growing baby boy!

Speaking of, we may or may not have used our luggage scale to weigh you in a canvas grocery bag this week.  And you may or may not have weighed around 15 pounds. :)  Normal, right?  I never made it to the Mommy & Me Boutique like I wanted, so we had to settle for second best.  I'll have a more accurate weight next week after your 4-month check-up!

I can't decide if being back at work makes my days go faster or slower.  I'm definitely more tired and feel like I don't get much done around the house.  And less blogging.  Which is a bummer.  All the while, you just keep growing and growing!  You've got quite the belly on you.  And a double chin.  And thighs.  I swear those thighs grew overnight.  One day you had skinny, little, chicken legs.  The next day?  Chunky monkey thighs.

Your 4-month birthday coincided with the presidential election (Obama was elected for a second term).  Hence, the pictures with the American flag.  You didn't care.  You decided you'd rather eat it.

Size - Around 15 pounds, assuming our luggage scale is accurate.

*Update as of 11/16/12 (4 months & 10 days): Height = 24.2 inches (16th percentile); Weight = 14 pounds 13 ounces (40th percentile); Head Circumference = 41.0 cm (15th percentile)

Words - Still no words, but lots of baby babble.  You also "hoot" like an owl.  Kinnick thinks it's weird.

Activity - You've now rolled from belly to back and from back to belly!  You are reaching and grabbing for things and finally started to play with a few select toys (rings, ball, Sophie, etc.).  You love to lay under your play gym and love to sit in your Baby Einstein bouncer (despite being inches from the floor still).  We've gotten you to laugh a few more times since the first time a month ago, but not nearly as much as we'd like.

Food - You are up to 6 ounces each feeding and eat 5 to 6 times per day (30 to 36 ounces total).  We successfully dropped your sixth feeding for a week or two, but once you started waking up early for daycare, it seemed you needed another meal each day.  Still on the Target brand of Enfamil Infant and it works just fine.  I have a feeling after your 4-month check-up next week, we'll get the go-ahead to start rice cereal!  Where is my baby going????

Sleep - Still sleeping like a champ!  If anything, you cry for a couple of minutes when we put you in your crib, but then you're out for 7 to 8 hours!

Bedtime/Waketime - Bedtime is anywhere between 8:00 and 9:00, after your last feeding.  You are accustomed to your earlier wake time and awake anywhere from 5:30 to 7am.  Usually, right around 6:15, but sometimes I watch you lay there and look around as early as 5:30.  Silly boy.

Hair - Mostly blond on top, a few brown patches in the back.  And still reddish at times.

Eyes - Still bright blue.

Likes -Your toes!!  You LOVE to suck on your toes!  With such a big belly, it's surprising you can even get them to your mouth, but you can, and you suck/play with them all. the. time.  Here's proof.

You also love to suck on your fingers.  It's not uncommon to see you attempt to put your entire fist in your mouth.
Other likes include eating, bath time, daycare friends (they love you, too!), your play gym, your bouncer, white noise, being held, Mommy & Daddy, your paci, your swing, diaper changes, watching t.v., basically all the same things as last month.

Dislikes - Being tired & being hungry.  We have a pretty happy baby!

Wardrobe - 3 to 6 month clothing now, but not for much longer!

Diapers - Just made the switch to size 2s!

Mommy's Fave - Still can't beat baby laughter, but since those giggles are few and far between, I'm gonna have to say that baby smell!  Especially after being away from you all day.  There's nothing better than snuggling and taking in your sweet baby scent.

Here are a few more photos from his 4-month photo shoot!

Friday Photo Dump

TGIF!  Seriously.  I'm so glad the weekend's {almost} here.   This working-momma thing is exhausting.  It didn't help that we were in Iowa last weekend and got nothing done around the house.  No grocery shopping, no laundry, you get the picture.  And now that I'm working 40+ hours and tutoring a few more hours each week, all I want to do when I'm home is snuggle with my baby and/or lay and do nothing.  I told Craig last night that I didn't even have the energy to blog.  And I enjoy blogging!

I'm going to try and catch up on blogging this weekend. Try is the key word. I also have masters homework to do.  December 15's graduation can't come soon enough!!

So anyway, I missed last week's photo dump.  Turns out, not a big deal.  I only had nine Instagrams from the last two weeks combined anyway.  Here they are.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend!  I know I will!

Where to Even Begin?

Ohmygoodness, things have been so crazy around here!  I have so much to blog about, but can't seem to get to it!  I haven't even read my daily blogs in awhile...something I usually love doing!  So I have a lot of catching up to do!

We went to Iowa over the weekend for a baby shower that I helped host and a friend's 30th birthday murder mystery party.  Which meant I had to get last week's homework done prior to leaving.  And throw together my costume for the party (HUGE thank you to friends for the flapper supplies).  And finish a few baby shower-related things.  Combine that with Halloween, three hours of tutoring, and spending time with the babe =  one tired momma!

But...I survived and now things calm down a bit this week.  Thank goodness!

I still don't have the energy to blog.  So instead I'll leave you with a list of things I want to blog about soon!  Stay tuned...
