Holden Beckett: 6 Months Old!

I'm a little late to the party with this one...  You turned 6 months old - half a year! - over two weeks ago, but life has been busier than ever!  I did manage to take your monthly photo on time (well, maybe one day late), but this blog post??  Well, better late than never I guess!

Your fifth month brought your first haircut (by Daddy, much to Mommy's dismay), your first overnight stay without Mom & Dad, your first taste of non-rice solids (bananas), and the excitement of the Royals making it to the playoffs for the first time in 29 years!  You're not quite crawling, but you're definitely mobile and you get where you want to go.  You must have discovered your tongue this month, because you're constantly sticking it out and playing with it.  You're as cute as ever with a personality to match.

At your 6-month well-baby check, we got the okay to start solids and sippy cups!  Sippy cups?!  I barely feel like you're past the newborn stage!  She also mentioned baby crackers and cheerios.  Perhaps it's because you still aren't interested in food, but I just can't believe we're to that point already!

It was around six months that I started planning Brantley's first birthday party.  Now I just laugh at the thought of that!  My apologies, sweet Baby Holden, but I haven't thought for one nanosecond about April 18, 2015. :)

6-Month Update:

Size (At your well-baby check at 6 months + 3 days) - Height: 25.8 inches (24th percentile); Weight: 16 pounds 9 ounces (32nd percentile); Head: 43.0cm (28th percentile).  You shot up in percentile in each of the three categories.

Words - Still lots of baby talk and squeals of laughter.  A few more actual giggles this past month.

Activity - You love to be on the floor exploring and playing with Brantley's toys.  You also love your doorway bouncer.  I'm pretty sure you could bounce for hours.

Food - 7 ounces of formula 5 to 6 times per day.  Despite trying since around 4.5 months, you've never been crazy about rice cereal.  Shortly before six months, we tried adding bananas to the mix thinking maybe something sweet would peak your interest.  Still no.  Hopefully soon!

Sleep - You sleep about eight to nine hours each night.  Still not much of a napper (we're lucky to get an hour), but we take what we can get!

Bedtime/Waketime - Bedtime is around 8 each night.  You still go to sleep without any sort of fuss.  You usually wake between 5:30 and 6:30am.  There were a period around 5.5 months where you were waking up in the early morning hours each night, but after about three miserable nights, we decided to let you cry it out.  You cried one night for nearly an hour, but you know what - you finally fell back asleep and you haven't woke up overnight since!

Hair - Daddy cut it and suddenly it seemed blond!  It's still brownish, but nothing like it was 5 months ago!  I've warmed up to your shorter, lighter locks and people say you are resembling Brantley a little more these days.  (I don't see it.)

Eyes - Bright blue

Teeth - None have popped through, but you can definitely see the top two under your gums.

Wardrobe - Some 3 to 6 month clothing still, and also 6 to 9.

Diapers - Size 2

Likes - Brantley, your doorway bounder, being sung to, being held, being talked to, sticking out your tongue.

Dislikes - Being hungry, tired, and hot.  Having your nose wiped.

Mommy's Fave - One evening, Brantley was being really silly.  You kept laughing and laughing at him, and of course, he kept showing off for you.  It was definitely a proud Mommy moment and a moment I've been waiting for ever since finding out that Brantley was getting a little brother.
