Spring Break Friday

I can't believe Spring Break is basically over!  But on the bright side, there are only 9 more school weeks until summer!  I had a fabulous week off with the boys.  The weather at the beginning on the week was superb--nearly 80 degrees on Monday.  It's been a little chilly for my liking since, but it could be waaaaay worse!

I set my alarm for 6am three days this week in order to enjoy some quiet time before the kids got up.  And to my surprise, I actually followed through!  It's amazing how nice it is to drink my coffee and read some blogs in the peace and quiet!  And thanks to daylight savings, both boys slept even later than they have for many weeks prior!  Now for a few SB photos...

1 | Kolaches on Wednesday - this kid ate 3 1/2!!!
2 | Ahhhh naptime
3 | Lunchin' on the patio

We finally got our orb light fixture hung and I'm in love!!

We joined our friends, The Pyle's, on Wednesday night for our annual March Madness draft.  For drawing number 8 and getting to choose last, I am pretty happy with my picks.  And there's $160 on the line...$80 for the person with the winning team and $80 for the person with the most number of points.  One year I won all $160!  And yes, Craig, I do still talk about it!!  I'm also in a draft at school (with horrible picks) and we organized a couples' draft among our neighborhood friends!

Remember that $150 to Starbucks giveaway??  I'm happy to say one of my real-life friends was the big winner!  Congrats, Brittany!

And finally, don't forget about our FFAY link-up on Tuesday, April 5!  This month's theme is something brunch related!  I've got a few ideas (I love breakfast!!!), but I still need to narrow it down!

Have a great weekend!

Deanna Rose as a Family of 4!

Holden's first week home from the hospital was a gorgeous one.  Sunny and temps near 80 nearly every day!  Craig was on vacation, my parents were in town, Brantley was home with us, and I was feeling great, so we couldn't pass up the opportunity for an afternoon at Deanna Rose Farmstead.  Even with a 4-day old.  Our first visit of the season and first as a family of four!

This was the perfect time to try out our new stroller!  Brantley loved the ability to hop on and off so easily!  And this type of stroller is seriously perfect for a place like this!

Highlights always include feeding the goats.  Brantley loved it at first.  And then he took a sip of the goat's milk.  (Sick)  And I happened to snap a photo at that exact moment.  And then the pushy goats jumped on him.  And frightened him.  And that was the end of that.  Not to mention, the poop they got on his shirt.  Darn goats.  We maybe used one of five bottles that Daddy bought.

Moving on to the pond.  And ducks.

Holden was amazing.  He slept the entire time.  I even tried to wake him to eat--in a swing under the warm spring-time sun.  (Don't worry, he was covered by a blanket to protect him from sunburn.)  But he wasn't having it.

It was a perfect afternoon.  And even better because it included a trip to Orange Leaf on the way home.

Easter Photo Shoot

Since there were a few warm days over my Spring Break, I took the opportunity to take some Easter-themed photos of Brantley.  Per usual, the kid won't smile on command and makes for a near-impossible model.  I keep thinking it will get better with age, but that doesn't seem to be the case!  Oh well, here are some pics of my funny bunny!

Happy Easter week!

Spring Break

Another Spring Break is in the books, and though I've spent prior Spring Breaks in Cancun, the Bahamas, Chicago, Vegas, San Francisco, and San Diego, I must admit, this one {in Olathe} was one of my favorites!  I am so thankful for the extra time I got to spend with Brantley...his last break as an only child and my last break as a mom of one.  I'm also thankful (very thankful) for the spring-like weather.  It gave us the opportunity to enjoy some much needed time outside and made Spring Break actually feel like it for the first time in a couple of years!

Among our favorite Spring Break activities:
  • Lunch(es) on our deck
  • Doughnuts on St. Paddy's Day morning
  • A trip to the dog park
  • A trip to the neighborhood park
  • Lots of time in our backyard
  • A trip to Rainbow Play Systems
  • Orange Leaf
  • Garage saling
  • A trip to the mall (and first carousel ride)
  • And just some sweet mommy-son moments at home
And as always, I have an abundance of photos to share from our fantastic SB2014.

It's always bittersweet to return to school after a break, especially one as great as this.  But now that Spring Break is a thing of the past, the baby countdown is officially on!  20 school days (or less) and counting...
